Finally I am on my merry way as far as the "merry" knitted squares are concerned. But it has been such uphill work. Every time these knitted squares have made an appearance in my blog (and it has been a few!) I have received several questions about their assembly. To which I had no answer.
After having finished all the squares, and having stared at them for weeks on end, I finally took the plunge and started stitching them together. Just like I had done with the grey blanket (crocheting them together, maybe with a contrasting colour, was discarded after some time´s contemplation).
I do find it difficult to get a neat result. Stitching the vertical seams is easier, as I can always use a matching colour. But the horizontal seams are worse. I have been told that if an exact colour for stitching is not available, use grey. In this instance I considered light blue to be the next best thing...
I still find the stitching uphill work, but I do like the finished look so far, so continue I shall... merrily! I would love to get this finished by Christmas, but from where I stand it does not look promising. I shall keep you posted.
(The lovely roses in these photos were given to me by my lovely hubby on my lovely day yesterday).

Hi Mia,
I love your new blanket in some of my favorite colours. Combined with the pink roses it just looks wonderful. I also love your grey blanket.

Use black; it will look like stained glass in a window...I always planned to do that with crochet.
oh my- how beautiful those roses and your lovely christmas blanket ;0)x keep going it looks lovely!! x
There will be copies of that blanket all over blogdom!
Jeg forstår ikke hvordag du klarer å få montert slike ruter.

I do love your blanket it is beautiful. I love the colours!
I am crocheting a multi coloured blanket out of squares. I am leaving a very long thread of yarn after I finish each square. Then I use it to sew one square to another until I have a long row. At the end of each row the thread is ready to sew to the previous row of squares, each time I finish a square I pick up the different coloured yarn again to sew the next one. This way the squares are always sewn together using the same colour yarn of one of the squares I am stitching together. It seems to be working out well. Otherwise I would use one colour of well chosen colour yarn as you are doing and use mattress stitch, which you cannot see anyway. I am using oversew or whip stitch for my blanket and you can see the joining thread stitches if you look but as it is the same as one of the squares either side, it doesn't matter and appears very neat.
teppet ditt er som en symfoni av vår og sommer for meg - og med de vakre blomstene i følget er det bare vakket, vakkert, vakkert. Kos deg med fremdriften.

Your blanket is coming out very country cuddle-y and pretty. I showed your flowers to my husband and said.. look at what HER husband brought home to HER! :-)
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Your blanket is beautiful and the stitching is very neat.
What gorgeous roses,my favourite flower.
I love the blog book in your last post...what a great idea! :0)
A while back I found a few skeins of 2 shades of grey and a very light peach color yarn I had bought many years ago and forgot about. It made me think of a nice, cozy blanket and I set out to make one, with a few extra colors. I tried and frogged a few squares and hexagons in crochet, trying to find the perfect pattern... until I remembered this one and your grey blankets. That was the perfect choice!
I love your blanket, it makes one want to snuggle up under it :) and the roses are just perfect! Lucky you!
